Denise Verzella, Partner
Denise Gackenheimer Verzella has dedicated much of her career to advocating for families navigating the complexities of special education law. Her journey began when she recognized the challenges parents face while seeking appropriate educational support for their children. After hiring Manes & Weinberg, LLC to assist with her own children’s needs, she became passionate about helping others in similar situations. Driven to become a more effective advocate, she pursued education and training in special education law, empowering herself to guide friends and relatives through the intricacies of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
When Denise chose to return to the practice of law, her commitment to supporting families motivated her decision. Although she briefly represented school districts, she quickly realized that her true passion lay in advocating for families. This experience equipped her with the knowledge and empathy necessary to navigate the special education process, striving to ensure that children receive the support they deserve.
In addition to her work in special education law, Denise has a rich background in higher education, having held positions at Cardozo Law School, Seton Hall School of Law, and the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She resides in Essex County with her husband, two children, and their rescue dog.
